Pendoylan School Show Their Support for Shoebox Appeal
Everyone was keen to help load the van with gifts for the 'Operation Christmas Child' shoebox appeal.
Your very generous donations helped make Christmas special for lots of children far less fortunate than us. Thank you.

Pendoylan
School Welcomes Martyn Williams to Special Sporting Assembly
Pendoylan
CIW Primary School was honoured to welcome former Welsh rugby captain and
legend Martyn Williams, to present the awards at a special sporting assembly.
The school celebrated the recent Rugby World Cup by holding their own tag rugby
tournament. Nearly 100 pupils were divided into teams named after the nations
competing at the World Cup and after a fantastic fortnight of exciting matches,
the eventual winners were the excellent Scotland, against an unlucky Ireland,
in a thrilling final.

Pendoylan School’s Enterprise Week Proves Hugely Successful
Every pupil at Pendoylan CIW Primary School, from the Nursery to Year 6, proved they have what it takes to be the next Apprentice during their superbly profitable Enterprise Week. The children worked diligently all week to design, make, market and sell a wide range of products, whilst also learning about profit and loss in the classroom. During the week they welcomed some special guests; a business advisor, Mr R Howells spoke to Years 3 and 4 and Zucchero Patisserie’s pastry chef, Mr Bishop-Scotti, helped Years 5 and 6 bake some delicious biscuits. The rest of the school produced some amazing products including candy cane mice, marshmallow snowmen, night lights, gingerbread men, soap and lots of delicious cakes. The children’s thorough research into the cost of producing each item, ensured a healthy profit was made when they came to sell their wares. In the jam-packed school hall, the children manned their own stalls to sell to the impressed parents. After a couple of hours trading, the children had made a whopping £525 profit for their very proud school.

Paralympian Ben Rushgrove Visits Pendoylan CIW Primary School
Paralympian
sprinter Ben Rushgrove put children at Pendoylan CIW Primary School through
their paces when he recently led them through an intense fitness circuit.
Rushgrove, who has cerebral palsy, won a silver medal in
the T36 100m sprint at the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and a bronze in
the 200m at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
The Bath-based athlete visited the school as part of the Sports for Schools
charity, with pupils throughout the school raising money through sponsorship
forms before taking part in the circuits.
Sports for Schools run athlete-led physical activities to
inspire kids to do more sport, while raising money for PE equipment in schools
and supporting GB and Olympic athletes.
Mrs Lyn Murray said, “The children really
enjoyed the circuits and were in awe of Ben’s achievements and medals. We were honoured
to have him visit and he’ll leave us inspired by his wonderful assembly and his
motto to ‘be the best you can be’. We’re grateful also for his help in raising
money for new sports equipment and wish him luck for the upcoming Paralympic
World Championships. We’ll all be supporting him.”

Goodbye Mrs Llewellyn… Pendoylan School Will Miss You!
After
24 years of dedicated service, we were saddened to see our fantastic cleaner,
Mrs Jeanette Llewellyn, retire this Easter. In her honour, we held a special ‘goodbye’
assembly with songs, poems and memories to commemorate her superb contribution
to our school and the Pendoylan community.
Pendoylan
School’s Head teacher, Mrs Lyn Murray, commented, “Mrs Llewellyn was a
committed, caring member of staff who had time for everyone. The children loved
her beaming smile and helpfulness and we will all miss her dearly.” Mrs
Llewellyn herself remarked, “I'm so grateful to the school for everything; seeing
so many children grow up and blossom has especially been a privilege. I want to
thank all the staff, the Friends of the school and parents for helping to make
my time at Pendoylan so wonderful”.

Eisteddfod 2015 - Another Great St David's Day Celebration!
We enjoyed another fantastic St David's Day in Pendoylan School this year.
Our congratulations go to the Yellow House for winning the 2015 Eisteddfod. It was the closest it has been for a very long time and we thank every pupil and parent that helped to make it such a 'bendigedig' day. The home competition entries were wonderful and the standard of work done in school, plus the recital and song performances impressed us all. We're so lucky to have such a talented lot! In particular, our creative writing competition winner, and this year's bard, Alys, who wins the coveted annual Chair.
